Kick boxing is a contact sport of Japanese origin in which are mixed fight techniques of some martial arts with Thai boxing. In this combines kicks and punches around the body so that in the competitions are driving a regulation allowing practice without risk of serious injuries.

It is considered a sport totally anaerobic by the large energy drain and in relatively short periods, which does not allow reaching the aerobic phase. It should be noted that this is not considered a martial art because it does not own or promulgates a philosophy.

It can be practiced by people of any age and sex, although age of onset is recommended to be at 10 years of age. Among the benefits of its practice include increased strength and muscle definition, improved cardio pulmonary resistance, improved coordination, knowledge of self defense techniques, etc.

The kickboxing was created as a contact sport by boxing promoter Osamu Noguchi in order to create a softer version of Muay thai that he had seen in Thailand, he believed this was very aggressive to the common practice among people.

Noguchi abolished the knee and elbows hits, respecting the other hits as well as the characteristic of the English box. The kick stayed the same, allowing the whole body marking the hallmark of the main kick called "thai kick".

Kickboxing Association was founded in Japan, the sport soon caught on and became popular to the point of being televised.

  • Light-Contact
    • Here opponents fight for a number of number of rounds and try to score points by landing clean and controlled strikes. If a fighter is deemed to be fighting too hard then they shall be given a warning by the referee, if this continuous in the fight a foul is committed. This version is perfect for intermediate Kick boxers who want to compete or gain vital experience for full-contact fights.
  • Full-Contact
    • Full-contact Kickboxing opponents fight each other with the aim knock their opponent out or score the most points.
  • Semi-Contact
    • Opponents try to score points by successfully landing strikes to their opponent whilst maintaining clean controlled form. Each strike must be made with light contact only. Each time a strike is successfully landed, the fight is interrupted and opponents are reset to their staring positions.
