Japanese self-defense martial art in which equilibrium positions are used to lead punches and kicks accompanied by breathing and particular screams. Its main objective is to cultivate self-discipline, positive attitude and high morale.

The word Karate Do means "the road to the art of empty hands", so it is understood to be a martial art without weapons. The philosophical sense of the word "kara" comes from the void that preaches Zen philosophy meaning a total emptiness of mind so there is no interference between the executor and rational action.

Karate-do is a combination of several ideals, the physical improvement, self-defense, overcoming mental and spiritual elevation, without this invades religious grounds of every person. It is an effective self defense system that fully develops the potential energy, reflexes and intuition while at the same time gives the practitioner will and unshakable faith on their skills with humility and tolerance.

Constant practice is the direct path to its essence, building a clean mind, a healthy body and a rich spirit.


Karate is a native of the Japanese island of Okinawa around 1500, based on techniques derived from Chinese art of Shaolin boxing the sixth century and its union with the spirit of Zen. In the beginning was called Tang hand because the islanders fought unarmed against armed Japanese oppressors. It was in the 1920's when the tang hand was introduced to Japan by Gichin Funakoshi, who called it Karate and practiced Shotokan style.
