The secret of a martial arts master

The Jeet Kune Do (The path of the intercepting fist) is a martial arts system and philosophy of life developed by Bruce Lee. In the martial field its goal is simplicity and effectiveness in combat using a fusion of various martial arts techniques such as Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Boxing Classic, among others. Bruce Lee reflected in each of his films its unique fighting style and explosive movements.

The Jeet Kune Do, defined by Dan Inosanto (successor to the style), is an idea and basic concepts that free the limited practitioner himself. In this art is not the learner who adapted it, but the style is the one who adapts to the learner. Because of this, is a martial ideal that anyone can do regardless of physical condition, age or sex.

Created by Bruce Lee between the 60's, initially based in Wing Chun, was rejected and criticized as a bastard hybrid martial art by the masters of martial arts purists for being considered a fusion of Western trends and its search for effectiveness, although the Americans largely accepted.

Bruce defended the Jeet Kune Do as a philosophy more than a martial art, he said that it should favor the lack in such a way that it could assume all shapes, using the "no way as way and no limitation as limitation."

  • Be like water, flexibility. Meet other martial arts.
  • Economy of movement, save energy and use specific movements without "frills".
  • Learn the 4 ranges of combat, kicking, punching, interception and attack.
  • Effectiveness: the attack must reach the goal.
  • Frankness: the ideas must come naturally and spontaneously.
  • Simplicity: thinking in a simple manner, without ornamentation.
  • Centerline refers to an imaginary line that is right in the center of our body. The theory is to exploit, control and dominate the center line of the opponent. The three guidelines for centerline are:
    • The one who controls the centerline will control the fight.
    • Protect and maintain your own centerline while you control and that of your opponent explode.
    • Control occupying the center line.
