The first game was played in 1846, but it was not until 1849 that formed the first professional team called the Red Stockings (Red Sox).

  • In each entry, the defensive team puts its 9 players on the field, one on the table pitch (pitcher), another after home (catcher), another defending the 1st base, another between first and second (called 2nd base), another between 2nd and 3rd (called shortstop), another defending the 3rd base and finally, three playing outside.
  • The attacking team, following the batting order, goes through the batter's box to try to hit the ball thrown by the pitcher and get on base without being eliminated.
